Area anglers anticipate Atlanta’s fly fishing show

Anglers from throughout the southeastern United States are waiting for the unofficial opening of the 2018 season: the Atlanta Fly Fishing Show, February 2-3 at the Infinite Energy Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway, in Duluth.

The show’s second annual edition features more than 10 demonstrations, seminars or audio/visual presentations each hour plus wall-to-wall displays of the newest fly rods, reels, fly lines, boots, waders, clothing, and flies during the two day mid-winter run.

More than $40,000 in Fly Fishing Show® door prizes including fishing trips will be up for grabs during the Friday-Saturday extravaganza.

In addition to tackle, fresh and saltwater lodges, and exotic destinations, show visitors can view continuous fly-tying demonstrations, how-to-do-it seminars, and presentations ranging from targeting school bass in the Upper “Hootch” to bonefish in the Bahamas to Montana’s Kootenai.

Casting demonstrations are scheduled by Gary Borger, Landon Mayer, George Daniel, and Bob Clouser.

Featured fly tiers include Dave Whitlock, Enrico Puglisi, Henry Cowan, Ed Engle, Tim Flagler, Borger, and Mayer.

The southeast premiere of the 2018 Fly Fishing Film Festival will be held Friday at 6:30. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

Fly Fishing Show admission is $15 for one day, $25 for two days. Children under age five are free as are Boy and Girl Scouts under 16 in uniform. Children under 12 are $5. Active military with an ID are $10.
