The Wilkes County Board of Education will meet at the board office on N. Alexander Avenue on Monday, March 19, at 2 p.m.

The 36th annual Kiwanis Talent Showcase will be held on Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m. at the Washington Wilkes Elementary School cafeteria. Applications and rules are available at all local schools and at the Mary Willis Library. The art entry deadline is March 7 at 10 a.m.

The Spirited Speakers Toastmasters Club of Wilkes and Lincoln County will meet on Thursdays, March 15, 29, April 5, and 19 at 6 p. m. at the Lincoln County Library, 181 N. Peachtree Street in Lincolnton. Anyone at least 18 years of age with a desire to improve communication and leadership skills is invited to attend. Meetings conclude promptly at 7:15 p.m.

New Springhill Baptist Church Family of Philomath will host three nights of Spring Revival at 7 p.m. March 12-14. Speakers will include Pastor Theotis Johnson of Springfield Baptist Church on Monday; Pastor Neal Parks of New Hope Baptist of Crawfordville on Tuesday, and Pastor Calvin Turner of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Stephens, Georgia, on Wednesday.

Twin Oak Baptist Church will hold its Men’s and Women’s Day program at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, March 25. Sis. Christine Wingfield from Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church and Dea. Larry Smith from Trinity Baptist Church will be the speakers.

New Life Baptist Church will hold its ninth annual Tent Meeting at 7 p.m. April 2-6 at the church located at 808 E. Robert Toombs Avenue.The public is invited to “come as you are.”

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will hold its Pastor Aide Program on Sunday, March 11, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Gary Walker, a son of the Beulah Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, delivering the sermon. Music will be provided by the Walker Family. The public is invited.

Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church will hold its Building Fund Program on Sunday, March 25, at 3 p.m. with guest speaker Rev. Joseph Hurley from Siloam Missionary Baptist Church of Union Point. Dinner will be served.

Bethlehem Baptist Church will hold its Family and Friends Day program on Sunday, March 18. The public is invited.

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet on Thursday, March 8, at 11 a.m. at the Welcome E. Mason Campus of Excellence in Lincolnton. All retired educators and friends of education are invited to support LWREA.

The New Salem Baptist Church will have Family and Friends Day on Sunday, March 11, at 3 p.m. Rev. Demetrice Porter will be the guest speaker. A fellowship meal will be served prior to the service.

Heard’s Chapel Baptist Church will hold three nights of spring revival March 20-22, at 7 p.m. nightly.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the ¬≠Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 5 p.m.

The new hours for the Stephen’s House Food Pantry are from 9 a.m.-noon on the third Saturday of each month.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. Call the Wilkes County Health Department at 706-678-2622 for more information and to schedule an appointment.

New Ford Baptist Church will conduct its annual Family and Friends Day program at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, with Rev. Dennis Quinn, pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincolnton, as guest speaker, and Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Augusta. Dinner will be served in the church fellowship hall. The public is invited.

Weekly Bible Study takes place each Tuesday from 6-7 p.m. at Reeves Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Anderson as the instructor. Focus during the months of March and April is the book of Acts, chapters 22-28.
