Wilsbary Sale will be held May 5 at Mary Willis Library

The Friends of the Mary Willis Library have announced that the next Wilsbary Book, Plant, and Bake Sale will be held on Saturday, May 5, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the library. New this year will be an early bird entry fee of $5 allowing entry before the official start time.

“Our generous selection of books this year includes a large collection featuring the Civil War, and our usual wide selection of plants and baked goods,” Elizabeth Crabbe reported.

Raffle tickets for gift baskets from local merchants will be available and will include a gardening basket, food treats, and a basket of lovely ways to pamper yourself. The drawing will be held at 11:30 a.m. and winners must be present to claim their prizes.

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. there will be a special sale, the details of which will be announced during the raffle.

“Always remember, the Friends of the Mary Willis Library raise money to support the Children’s Summer Reading Program and we purchase new books each year for the children’s section of the library,” Crabbe said. “The community’s continuing support enables us to continue to support these very important programs.”

The next meeting of the Friends will be held at 3 p.m. May 10, featuring Krista Reese, a journalist and food critic for Georgia Trend magazine. She will share some of her recent research on the history and surprises of old-fashioned tea rooms.
