Gary and Trisha Dobbs hosted family for Easter dinner on Sunday, April 1, as well as an Easter egg hunt for their grandchildren, Rylee, Raegan, Braylin, Ethan, and Emmalyn. In addition to children and grandchildren, Ronnie and Wendy Huffman of Washington also joined them for the festivities. Josh and Hollie Dobbs and Raegan joined Matthew Huffman and Christina Taylor at Christina’s home in Lincolnton later in the day for another Easter egg hunt for Raegan and Christina’s son, Brantley. Her parents and grandparents were there as well.

. Nina Boatwright visited J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright on Tuesday, April 3, which was J.W.’s birthday. Nina took cherry pie to celebrate as she knows it is J.W.’s favorite. Nina also visited on Thursday, April 5, and took lunch.

. Frances Finley and Debra Armour visited J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright and shared a delicious meal with them last week.

. Our sweet girl, Maebrynn Elizabeth, turned eight years old on Thursday, April 5. We had a celebratory dinner at La CabaƱa. Joining Kelly, Maebrynn, Kellbry, and me were Pat and Douglas “Bardahl” Armour; Trent and Mary Kate Dauler and Jed; Greg and Madeline Callaway; and McKenzie and Wes Spooner. We all had a wonderful time together. Jazzy Fry also made Maebrynn feel special by making cupcakes with her and Kellbry earlier in the day Thursday.

. Bonnie Boatwright spent Friday night at Wills Memorial Hospital for treatment for having a touch of bronchitis. Bernard and Brooke Welborn came to visit her, as well as Trey and Sarah Berry and Rosemary Gresham.

. Danielle Gowen, daughter of John and Kim Gowen, has been celebrating her birthday for the past week. She had friends over on Friday, March 30, and they sang karaoke and danced. She celebrated her birthday with family at a cookout on Wednesday, April 4, and she went to Six Flags with her friend, Emily Wolfe, and her mother on Sunday, April 8. John and Kim Gowen also had little visitors, their grandsons Tripp and Levi, during spring break.

. Carl and Vickie Sisson hosted family for Sunday dinner on April 8 at their home in Washington. Joining them were Tom and Gloria Wheatley, Richard and Lisa McAvoy, and Mike and Christine Wheatley.

. On Sunday, April 8, Trey and Sarah Berry visited J.W. and Bonnie Boatwright and yook them lunch.

. Rayle lost a beloved, dedicated citizen of the community on Sunday, April 8. Please keep the family and friends of Mrs. Martha Hall in thoughts and prayers as they navigate through their time of mourning. Mrs. Martha leaves behind a sweet family and a legacy of love for her family, church family, and neighbors. She will be missed.

. Our community is also lifting Reverend Donnie Berry and his family in prayer at this time. Please remember especially his mother, Betty Berry, wife, Kris and daughters, Abbie and Jessica, and their families. Reverend Donnie is special to many.

. Homecoming at Sardis Baptist Church will be held on Sunday, April 29. Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

. Mark your calendars for Vacation Bible School at Sardis Baptist Church! This year it will kick off on Sunday, June 3 and wrap up on Friday, June 8. All children are welcome!

. Be sure to visit the Washington Farmers Market behind The Square on Saturday mornings. They are there from 9 a.m.-noon.
