Getting there

Wills Memorial Hospital has received $248,794 through the Georgia Heart tax credit, with another $173,888 pledged this year to date. “This program has become very popular, very quickly,” WMH Community Relations Director Susan D. Pope said. “Georgia Heart is seeing lots of Atlanta business people give to rural hospitals so that they can take advantage of the tax credits. It is beneficial to the donor and the rural hospitals that receive the funds. It’s a win-win.” Pope and WMH CEO Tracie Haughey (above) show the hospital’s thermometer graph tracking the progress of donations to the $1 million mark. It is predicted that the $60 million statewide cap will be met before the end of June. “We encourage anyone who is interested in diverting their state income taxes to Wills Memorial to log onto GeorgiaHeart.org and get pre-approval for the 100 percent tax credit today,” Pope said.
