Shep Wheatley honored at first birthday party in Tignall May 19

Shep Wheatley, son of Brittany and Brandon Wheatley of Destin, Florida, celebrated his first birthday Saturday, May 19, at the home of his grandparents, Beth and Barry Armour in Tignall.

The theme, Wild One, was carried out as the yard was festively decorated with three large teepees and a grass wall used as a backdrop for Shep’s antique wooden highchair decorated with mint green streamers to match the large confetti balloons hanging from the shade cloths.

Tables were covered in burlap cloths with green moss rocks in clear cylinders of eucalyptus, other greenery, and curly willow.

Another large table held a whole barbecued pig for the picking. Guests enjoyed stew, potato salad, baked beans, broccoli salad, fruit tray, dip, decorated cookies, watermelon, tea, and lemonade.

Shep’s three-tiered birthday cake was designed by his mother. The base was a tree stump surrounded with festive woodland animals; the second tier was a layer of arrows while the third was an Indian drum with a teepee on top. Shep’s smash cake was a woodland owl.

Favors were treat bags.

Shep received many wonder- ful gifts during the afternoon but had one last gift to share with family and friends. He revealed he was being promoted to big brother and then had a gender reveal for guests to announce a baby sister arriving in November.

Sixty-five guests were invited. Special guests with Shep, his parents, and maternal grandparents included paternal grandparents, Elaine and Jimmy Wheatley, and great-grandparents, Julia Thornton and Rubye and Jack Armour.
