The White Rock Baptist Church Pastor’s Anniversary will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15, with Pastor Wilson Lattimore Jr. and the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church as guests for the occasion. Dinner will be served at the Third Shiloh Rev. G.L. Avery Center. The public is invited.

The fall semester of the Victory Baptist Church Bible Institute will start Monday, August 13, at 7 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

New Life Baptist Church will conduct its VBS Summer Bash from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, July 23-27, at the church. Each evening will be filled with food, games, crafts, and many other activities for the youth. A party on Friday night will feature inflatables, cotton candy, and more.

Pompey’s Chapel Baptist Church will hold its annual homecoming service at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, August 26, with speaker Pastor Larry Norman. Revival services are scheduled for August 27-30 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

Fishing Creek Baptist Church will hold its homecoming service on Sunday, July 22, at 11 a.m. Revival services will follow July 23-27, at 8 p.m. nightly.

The Wilkes County Democrat Party will meet on Thursday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. at Pizza Hut. All democrats are welcome to attend.

Black Rock A.M.E. Church and the Washington Circuit of A.M.E. Churches will honor Pastor Emeritus Rev. Christopher Andrews at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, with guest speaker Rev. Gerald Caldwell of Augusta. The public is invited. Refreshments will be served.

Booker’s Chapel Baptist Church revival is scheduled for July 31-August 2, at 7:30 p.m. nightly with choir and guest speakers Rev. Terrell Carter on Tuesday; Rev. James Washington on Wednesday; and Rev. Kelvin Daniel, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church in Watkinsville, on Thursday. The public is invited.

Bethel United Methodist Church will celebrate its 2018 Homecoming on Sunday, July 22, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Virginia Best, special music by McCamy Garrard, and a covered dish lunch will be served. Revival is scheduled for July 22-25 at 7 p.m. nightly with these guests: Sunday, Rev. Paul Reviere, music by Renee Hall; Monday, Rev. Kathy Lamon, music by April Morrison; Tuesday, Rev. The Washington City Council will not have a regular meeting in July and will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, August 13, at The Pope Center beginning at 3:30 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 3 p.m.

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, at the ¬≠Wilkes County courthouse. A work session in the chairman’s office will be held immediately prior beginning at 5 p.m.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements. The Shepeard Community Blood Center will conduct a blood drive sponsored by the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, in the Fellowship Hall of the Washington First United Methodist Church.

A community luau-type celebration will be held at New Life Baptist Church on Sunday, July 29, including a special service in which the children will be honored.
