Cattlemen present annual scholarships

At the Wilkes County Cattlemen’s last meeting of the summer, the family of the late George R. Smith continued its legacy of supporting local youth in agriculture as Robert Smith (top photo, right) presented Lindsey Moore with a $500 scholarship from the family. Moore is enrolled at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with a dual major in ag-education and diversified ag-livestock production. She is the daughter of Shane and Amy Moore.

The Wilkes County Cattlemen’s Association also presented annual scholarships for 2018. President Jenny Reville (bottom photo, left) presented the scholarships to (l-r) Meredith Gunter, Lindsey Moore, and Ethan Holton. Meredith was selected as the high recipient and received $500. Lindsey, in second place, was awarded $400, and Ethan was awarded $300. Meredith is the daughter of Danny and Monica Gunter and Ethan is the son of Eric and Jennifer Holton.
