City of Washington encourages all to take photos for ‘City Hall Selfie Day’

(Photo by Tom Duggan) (Photo by Tom Duggan) The City of Washington has prepared its entry and will be participating in this year’s “#CityHallSelfie Day” sponsored nationally by ELGL (Engaging Local Government Leaders) next Wednesday, August 15.

Washington’s entry (above) is this photo of 63 out of 75 employees offering friendly greetings at City Hall on Liberty Street. Anyone can contribute to the effort simply by snapping a photo at City Hall, or anywhere connected to local government. There are competitions in a wide variety of categories for the best of each – from such things as the smallest government office to the most entries posted during the day.

The event is a fun way to connect people to city government and highlights how local government truly is the government closest to the people.

Here’s how to participate:

Take selfies. Throughout the weekend and the beginning of next week, encourage all residents, staff, elected officials, friends, and family to take selfies in front of the city halls and government buildings in local communities. That includes Washington, Tignall, and Rayle.

Be Creative. There are awards in dozens of categories. Check them out at https://elgl.org/ cityhallselfie.

Post to your city’s official social media page (if applicable): Remember to post on August 15 and mention tag: @gacities (twitter), @Georgia Municipal Association (Facebook) and @ ELGL on all social networks. You can also tag: #GaCities, #CityHallSelfie and #ELGL.

Send the GMA (Georgia Municipal Association) your pictures. In addition to sharing on local platforms, GMA wants to spread the “Georgia #CityHallSelfie” love on its pages as well. Send photos to kbennett@gmanet.com.

In the meantime, take a look at some of GMA’s #CityHallSelfie fun from last year on the Georgia Municipal Association’s Facebook page.
