Getting a roof on is the next big step

Work continues to progress on the City of Washington’s new fire station on East Court Street. With the second floor “all studded up,” Fire Chief C.J. Gilland stands in what will be a special training room with a view down the hall leading to living quarters and the quick exit to the firehouse next door. Firefighters on duty will have the option of taking the stairs or a stainless steel slide which is sure to get them to the trucks in a hurry. Completion of the facility is, maybe, expected in 4-5 months. A more comprehensive look at the new fire station is coming in a near-future edition of The News-Reporter.
