‘Home Health Aide’ program new this fall at Career Center

Athens Technical College’s Washington Wilkes Career Center will offer a new program this fall entitled “Home Health Aide.” The program will be a three-week course that will be free of charge to program participants and will have a workforce component (GA BEST) embedded in the curriculum.

Participants will get assistance in résumé writing, computer literacy, and employability skills. They will also take part in a mock interview to equip them with the skills needed to secure employment after completing the program.

After the GA BEST component, students will take part in First-Aid/ CPR Certification training. At the end of the course, students will have the opportunity to go on to complete the CNA course or enroll in Athens Technical College’s LPN Program. The program will also assist in helping the students secure employment if that is their immediate goal.

The class will begin Monday, September 24. Anyone interested in the program should call to pre-register as soon as possible, because the class is expected to fill quickly.
