The Episcopal Church of the Mediator will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Saturday, October 20 at 5 p.m. with history talk, book signing, and reception in the Parish House. Canvassing and phone bank training for the Democratic Party will be held every Monday at the Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church Annex, 224 Lexington Road in Washington. The training will be provided throughout the day at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. A field agent will be on hand every Monday until 8 p.m. All volunteers for the Democratic Party are needed and welcome.

The Tree of Life Worship Center will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Thursday Saturday, October 11- 13, with speakers Minister Stephen Carmichael on Thursday and Friday, and Minister Fred Smotherman on Saturday. The theme for the revival is, “For we are labourers together with God; you are God’s husbandry, you are God’s building.” The public is invited.

The BreasTest and More Program at the Wilkes County Health Department has help to assist in paying for mammograms for the uninsured when funding is available. Clients must be 40-64 years of age, have no health insurance, and meet certain financial requirements.
