Wilkes Sunday School Union meets at Twin Oak Baptist

The Wilkes County Sunday School Union convened September 28-30 with Twin Oak Baptist Church where Rev. Paul Hull served as host pastor and Larry Williams as host superintendent. The session was opened by President Enoch Booker Jr. Before the devotional, President Booker led the union in a moment of silence for the death of Albert Rucker, a faithful and devoted member of the Sunday School Union. Devotional services were led by Andrea Butler and Thomas Mills. Singing was by Mark’s Tabernacle Baptist Church choir. The sermon was preached by Rev. Robert Crawford entitled “Have a Little Talk with Jesus” taken from St. Luke 11:1-4. The benediction was led by Rev. Crawford.

The Saturday session was opened by President Booker. Devotional services were led by Larry Williams and Enoch Booker Jr. The welcome was given by Robert Walton. The 45-minute Bible lesson was taught by Essie Cofer. The lesson was taken from Acts 26:1-32. At the close of the Bible lesson, President Booker made final remarks and benediction was led by Rev. Hull.

The Sunday morning session was opened by President Booker. Devotional services were led by Albert Shank and Thomas Gresham. Enoch Booker Jr. presided as Sunday School superintendent. The lesson was entitled “Passing the Buck” and taken from Genesis 3:8-17. The inspirational address was presented by Larry Williams entitled “Getting to Know Jesus.” The missionary sermon was delivered by Rev. Charles Belton entitled “Message that the Whole World Needs” taken from Jonah 3:1-10. Singing was by the Twin Oak Baptist Church choir. Hospitality remarks and special thanks were given by President Booker. The benediction was led by Rev. Belton.

The next union session will convene December 28-30, 2018, at Springfield Baptist Church.

Officers of the union are Enoch Booker Jr., president; Rev. Lance Pitts, vice president; Robin Booker, secretary; Melvene Binns, assistant secretary; and Larry Smith treasurer.
