The Episcopal Church of the Mediator will celebrate its 150th anniversary of the Parish on Saturday, October 20, at 5 p.m. with a history talk, book signing, and reception at the Parish House. On Sunday, October 21, at 11:15 a.m., Bishop Paul Lambert will be the celebrant. A catered light luncheon will follow.

Jackson Chapel AME Church will hold its fall revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, November 6-8, with Rev. David Batts and New Life Bible Church, of Athens on Tuesday; Rev. Samuel Tompkins and Greater Bethel AME Church of Athens on Wednesday; and Rev. Greta Fowler and the New Zion Hill AME Church of Thomson on Thursday. The public is invited.

The Wilkes County Board of Education will meet at the board office on N. Alexander Avenue on Monday, November 19, at 2 p.m.

The 53rd annual Washington- Rotary Club Pancake Supper will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 2, at the Washington Wilkes Elementary School cafeteria. Everyone is invited. Tickets are available at the door, or in advance from any Rotarian for $7 each.

Sardis Baptist Church in Rayle will celebrate “Great Day In the Morning” on October 21, with Gerald Harris, editor of The Christian Index, teaching the adult Sunday School classes at 10 a.m. and serving as the guest speaker for the 11 a.m. worship service. Rev. Johnny Foster, pastor of the East Cobb Baptist Church, and his wife, Jody, will provide special music. Dinner on the grounds will follow in the annex.

New Springhill Baptist Church will celebrate its annual Family and Friends Day on the first Sunday, November 4, at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Lance Pitts as the messenger. Dinner will be served at 1:30 pm.

New Ford Baptist Church will celebrate the 18th anniversary of Rev. James White at 11:15 a.m. Sunday, November 11. The guest preacher for the occasion will be Rev. George Edwards and the choir and members of Thankful Baptist Church will be special guests. The community is invited to attend. Dinner will be served in the church fellowship hall immediately after the service.

Canvassing and phone bank training for the Democratic Party will be held every Monday at the Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church Annex, 224 Lexington Road in Washington. The training will be provided throughout the day at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. A field agent will be on hand every Monday until 8 p.m. All volunteers for the Democratic Party are needed and welcome.

The Washington City Council will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, November 12, at The Pope Center beginning at 3:30 p.m. A work session will precede the meeting at 3 p.m.
