Courtney O’Neal Gunter marries Christopher Glenn Hobbs Dec. 15


Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Glenn Hobbs Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Glenn Hobbs Courtney O’Neal Gunter of Jesup and Christopher Glenn Hobbs of Dublin exchanged wedding vows in a beautiful ceremony Saturday, December 15, at six o’clock in the evening at The Graduate of Athens. Rev. Deven Mixon of Jesup officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Monica and Danny Gunter of Rayle.

The bridegroom is the son of Deborah and Glenn Hobbs of Dublin.

A large wreath of greenery accented with a white “H” flanked by two smaller greenery wreaths hung in the windows as a backdrop for the ceremony. Assorted greenery also lined the aisle.

Athens Wedding Music with guitar and cello provided music for the ceremony.

Mr. Hobbs served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were James Hobbs of Jesup, brother of the bridegroom; Ben East, Rob East, Matt East, Jon-Luke Cannada, all of Dublin, and Josh Ward of Jeffersonville. The bridegroom and groomsmen wore navy suits with navy ties. The groomsmen had boutonnieres of white roses while the bridegroom’s boutonniere held a white anemone and greenery.

Meredith Gunter and Maddie Gunter of Rayle, sisters of the bride, served as maids of honor. They wore floor-length mesh wine-colored dresses and carried bouquets of burgundy peonies and snapdragons, blackberry scoop scabiosa, dusty miller, white anemones, red ranunculus, purple stock, red hearts roses and white O’Hara roses, Agonis, bay leaves, and eucalyptus in smaller versions of the bride’s flowers.

Bridesmaids were Kayla Cowart of Jesup, Jamie Watkins of Patterson, Meredith Carter of Odum, Casey Fleming of Winterville, and the bride’s cousin, Jessica Redd of Winterville. Niece of the bride, Alexis Moon of Rayle, was the junior bridesmaid. Their gowns were varying styles of floor-length mesh in the wine color and their flowers matched those of the maids of honor.

Harley Moon of Rayle, niece of the bride, served as flower girl. She wore a white gown with a lace bodice that featured a heart cutout and bow in the back and a full-length tulle skirt. She wore a crown of gypsophila in her hair and scattered white rose petals as she walked down the aisle.

Klace Hobbs of Jesup, nephew of the bridegroom, was ring bearer.

Escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride was stunning in her Stella York gown of ivory lace over ivory Dolce satin in a trumpet silhouette design that featured a sweetheart neckline and embellished belt.

Her pearl necklace was a wedding gift from her bridegroom.

Her elegant bouquet featured burgundy snapdragons and peonies, blackberry scoop scabiosa, dusty miller, white anemones, red ranunculus, purple stock, red Hearts roses, white O’Hara roses, Agonis, eucalyptus, and bay leaves.

For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Gunter wore a navy floor-length dress fashioned with a lace bodice

Mrs. Hobbs, the bridegroom’s mother, chose a floor-length navy dress.

Both carried mini-bouquets that complemented the bride’s bouquet.

Reception

The bride’s parents entertained at a reception at The Graduate in Athens following the ceremony.

The bride and bridegroom sat with their wedding party at a long table that was covered in white and adorned with a greenery garland, red roses, and candles.

Other tables held centerpieces of lanterns filled with pinecones and lights surrounded by greenery and other candles.

Guests enjoyed a buffet of smoked chicken, pulled pork, salad, creamed corn, macaroni and cheese, and rolls.

The bride’s cake was a threetiered confection embellished with flowers and topped with a monogrammed cake topper.

The bridegroom’s cake was a ten-layer chocolate cake adorned with chocolate-covered strawberries.

A pianist from Athens Wedding Music provided music for the evening. Josh Ward and Abby Foster of Jeffersonville sang for the couple’s first dance “I Get to Love You” by Ruelle.

The couple left the reception in their wedding attire amid a flurry of sparklers.

Following a wedding trip to Negril, Jamaica, they are residing in Jesup.

Rehearsal Dinner

Deborah and Glenn Hobbs were hosts at a rehearsal dinner honoring Courtney Gunter and Chris Hobbs at The Graduate in Athens.

For the occasion the bride-elect wore a floor-length tan floral dress.

White cloths covered the tables decorated with hurricane vases with candles banked with magnolia leaves.

Plated dinners of steak, shrimp, green beans, loaded baked potatoes, and salad were served. Assorted donuts were served for dessert.
